In this video lecture, four scientists discuss the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Their discussion centres around flood prevention and reconstruction, initially beginning with the exact circumstances of the floods in New Orleans. The following section evaluates two cases, namely Venice and the Netherlands, to examine the infrastructure aspect of flooding. Thirdly, the authors analyse the anthropological and sociological aspects of disasters, before proceeding to look at the ways in which cities are redesigned in the aftermath of severe natural disasters.
